How It Works

Our Kitchen Remodeling Process

Four steps from first meeting to finished kitchen. No surprises, no hidden costs.

01

Consultation

Meet to discuss your vision, budget, and timeline. We measure the space, assess plumbing and electrical, and start planning your dream kitchen.

02

Design

Select materials, finishes, and layout together. You get a clear proposal with itemized pricing and no hidden costs before any work begins.

03

Build

Demo, framing, plumbing, electrical, cabinets, countertops, and flooring. Every trade is coordinated and the work is done right the first time.

04

Final Walkthrough

Inspect every detail together. We do not consider the job done until you are completely happy with every cabinet, counter, and finish.

★★★★★
"This is the 2nd time we have used Howard Roofing and Construction. … Both times, they were fast, courteous, professional and left our yard as if they were never here to begin with. There was no debris of any kind left behind and they made sure to protect our plants. I also appreciate the fair pricing. …"

Kitchen Remodeling FAQ

Common Questions

How long does a kitchen remodel take?+
Most full kitchen remodels take 4-8 weeks depending on scope, materials, and any structural changes. We provide a detailed timeline before work begins so you can plan accordingly.
How much does a kitchen remodel cost?+
Costs range from $15,000 for a basic refresh to $50,000+ for a full gut renovation. We work with your budget and provide transparent pricing with no hidden fees.
Do I need to move out during the remodel?+
No. Most homeowners stay in their home during the remodel. We set up dust barriers, protect your floors, and clean up daily. You may need to set up a temporary kitchen space with a microwave and cooler.
Can you work with my existing layout?+
Yes. We can update finishes, cabinets, and surfaces within your existing footprint, or we can reconfigure the entire layout including moving plumbing and electrical.
Do you handle permits?+
Yes. We pull all necessary permits and schedule inspections as required by New Hanover County. Everything is done to code.
What's typically included in a full kitchen remodel?+
A full remodel covers cabinets and storage, countertops and surfaces, and flooring or tile, along with any plumbing and electrical work the new layout requires. We handle it as one coordinated project rather than separate trades working on their own schedules.
Will you need to move my plumbing or electrical?+
It depends on your layout. Keeping your sink, range, and appliances in their current spots keeps plumbing and electrical work minimal. Moving the layout, such as relocating the sink or adding an island, means rerouting supply lines and wiring, which we assess during your consultation and handle with qualified trades.
What factors affect the cost of a kitchen remodel?+
Cost depends mainly on scope (refresh vs. full gut renovation), the materials you choose for cabinets and countertops, whether the layout is changing, and how much plumbing or electrical relocation is involved. We walk through these factors with you during the consultation so your estimate reflects your actual project, not a generic average.
What affects how long my remodel will take?+
Beyond overall scope, the biggest factors are material lead times (custom cabinets and certain countertop materials take longer to arrive), whether the layout is being reconfigured, and how much plumbing or electrical work is involved. We build your timeline around these specifics rather than a one-size estimate.
Can you coordinate a kitchen remodel with roofing or siding work?+
Yes. Howard Roofing & Construction is a full-service roofing and construction company, not a kitchen-only crew, so if you're also planning a roof replacement, siding, or other exterior work, we can schedule and coordinate both under one crew and one point of contact.
