Fiber Cement Board and Batten in Carolina Beach
This Carolina Beach renovation shows how a coastal siding job should be done. The house got a pre-finished fiber cement board and batten siding system with a full Hardie trim package: corners, frieze boards and window trim.
Because of the salt-air location, the crew used stainless steel fasteners throughout, installed house wrap and window wrap for moisture protection, and carefully integrated flashing around the decks and every window and door opening. About 60 to 70 percent of the windows and all the exterior doors were replaced at the same time.
